Aligning the Hot Air Styler to perfectly fit consumers’ needs
A large beauty and personal care company decided to launch a middle-priced hair styling brush to fill a gap in a sector projected to grow from 7.8B in 2020 to 10.5B in 2025. To ensure the product is aligned with consumers’ needs and desire for efficiency, the company tested the UI and UX across a wide range of hair styles.

Research

We conducted preliminary research to ensure the styling directions covered each metric needing to be tested.

Recruit

We recruited consumers with a wide spectrum of hair consistency and texture, from straight to curly.

Test

Participants hair washed and blowdried their hair, then followed detailed directions to style their hair with the device.

They immediately filled out a survey to record their experience.

Results

The client realigned their product with consumers’ feedback, resulting in a highly successful market launch. As the hot air dryer quickly gained traction, it successfully filled the market gap and exceeded consumer expectations.
